Salary: $38,000- $40,000 USD Per Year

This is a full-time position including full benefits. Up to 2 years possible funding.

The Department of Integrated Science and Technology (ISAT) employs nearly 50 faculty members trained in biology, chemistry, physics, math, and engineering, many with backgrounds in industry. ISAT integrates the study of science, mathematics, and technology in the context of societal and business concerns to uniquely qualify graduates to play a central role in creative scientific and technological problem solving. The curriculum is specifically designed to engage students in studying the sciences and technology, to lead students through examples of the practice of science, and to help them learn underlying methods and principles. Scientific theory is thus combined with hands-on experience designed to motivate and stimulate interest as well as impart learning. This is accomplished by the development of interdisciplinary, issue-based courses that address critical technology sectors of today's economy. These sectors include biosystems, energy, environment, engineering manufacturing, information/knowledge management, telecommunications, and health systems.

Duties and Responsibilities: Teaching in microbiology, cell biology, molecular biology, 1/2 normal faculty teaching load. Performing experiments related to microbial pathogenesis project supported by NIH funding. Mentoring and supervising undergraduate researchers in independent project. Writing papers, grants, and other presentations. Accompanying students and faculty to meetings to present work.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in microbiology or related field is required. Interest in undergraduate education and research is essential.
