| PhD in Synthetic Medicinal Chemistry Avian Flu Research based in School of Pharmaceutical Sciences Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) is ranked as the top Malaysian university, according to the most recent Malaysia Quality Assurance (MQA) survey. The tremendous impact of avian influenza on human population can not be underestimated, particularly with the recent reports of high mortality in Asia. Presently, there is a lack of clinically-proven vaccines, and drugs to countermeasure a possible pandemic. As a part of the collaborative effort to address this pressing situation, we seek two PhD candidates to work in the field of synthetic medicinal chemistry. Independently and highly motivated candidates are encouraged to apply, and expected to hold a Masters degree in chemistry. Experience in synthetic chemistry would be a big plus. Overseas candidates are required to demonstrate a good command of English by submitting your TOEFL or IELTS results. Interested candidates can make informal enquiries to Dr Aisyah Saad, telephone: 006 04 653 4094, or email: aisyah@usm.my or aisyahsaad@gmail.com, before submitting a formal application.
