Abstract:

This research compares two separate socio-economic studies in two small communities in two different countries, namely (Al Hayer) in the United Arab Emirates, and (LeMars, Iowa) in the United State of America. Both studies used the same questionnaire, which was designed by a team from the Department of Sociology at Iowa State Universities (ISU) when its members studied LeMars of Iowa. The second study was done on the Al Hayer community in the United Arab Emirates. In spite of the fact that the two communities are geographically, environmentally, and culturally very different, yet the findings have shown a number of similarities between each other.
